Welcome to the 2016-17 school year in the Galt Joint Union High School District!
Building upon the foundations established in the Galt Joint Union Elementary, Arcohe, New Hope and Oakview School Districts, our district team is committed to ensuring that all students graduate prepared for success in college, career, and civic life.
GJUHSD maintains two priorities for students as they transition from middle school through high school and beyond. First, we want all of our students to participate in the college-preparatory “A-G” course sequences necessary for success in community college, technical programs, and entry to the California State University and University of California systems. Second, we want all of our students to complete at least one career technical education pathway in order to develop the 21st century skills necessary for workplace success.
We recognize that a high school diploma is no longer enough to ensure rewarding employment and a secure future. To this end, we offer rigorous academic courses to meet students’ individual interests, including a variety of Advanced Placement options at both campuses. A new master schedule offers students 33% more course offerings than in the past and blended learning allows students to individualize and accelerate their education in the “Anytime-Anywhere” space of web-based curricula. We have recently partnered with Dell computers to obtain the equivalent of one computer for every two students. Our students prepare for careers by joining in award winning career technical education pathways including agriculture, biomedical sciences, engineering, informational technology, and careers with children - to name just a few.
Beginning with the class of 2020, every student participates in a program called “My 10 Year Plan” to develop and monitor a “college, career, and life” plan that spans four years of high school as well as the first six years after graduation. We engage our community in mentorships and work experience opportunities to help our students achieve their short- and long-term education and career goals.
Most notably, our entire district – with its two comprehensive high schools - is smaller than a single high school in our neighboring districts. Our students benefit from a highly personal learning environment in which their teachers and school staff know them by name and are focused on meeting each student’s individual social and academic needs. If you seek a rigorous college preparatory program balanced by individualization and career preparation to ensure your child’s college and career success, Galt is your district! Come Grow And Learn and Thrive with us.
